What is a PRF?

PRF (Plasma Rich Fibrin) in the medical field typically refers to “Plasma Rich Fibrin,” which is plasma rich in fibrin, platelets, growth factors, and other cellular components derived from the patient’s own blood. PRF is prepared by centrifuging the patient’s blood sample to collect PRF from different layers generated during the centrifugation process, including fibrin clot, PRF gel, and PRF liquid. What is PRF used for?

How to get PRF?

Centrifugation Separation: The collected blood sample undergoes centrifugation to separate its various components. Centrifugation typically involves two steps:

First Centrifugation: Blood is centrifuged to separate red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets, forming a bottom layer of red blood cell precipitate and an upper layer of plasma.

Second Centrifugation: The plasma layer is further centrifuged to separate PRF rich in platelets and growth factors.

Collection of PRF: PRF, usually in the form of a gel, is typically located in the middle layer of the centrifuge tube. PRF is collected and used for subsequent treatment processes.
