Description
What is a PRF tube? What are its applications and extraction methods, as well as its advantages?
PRF Tube mainly plays the role of fibrin, which can combine platelets with the released growth factors in the form of chemical bonds, and prolong the action time of growth factors through slow release. Fibrin aggregates in PRF to form a loose, three-dimensional network structure, and a large number of platelets and leukocytes are distributed in the protein network. Contains a large number of white blood cells that may have high immunological value. It has been widely used in stomatology, maxillofacial surgery, orthopedics, plastic surgery, etc. It is mainly formulated into a gel, which generally has the functions of removing wrinkles, lightening pigmentation, filling scars, and treating hair loss.
Applications of PRF tube
- Dentistry and Oral Surgery:
-
- Alveolar Bone Regeneration: PRF is applied to promote bone tissue regeneration and wound healing following tooth extraction or dental implant surgery.
- Periodontal Treatment: PRF aids in treating periodontal diseases and facilitating periodontal tissue regeneration.
- Implant Stability: PRF enhances implant stability and soft tissue healing during artificial implant procedures.
Extraction method of PRF tube
- Blood Collection: Approximately 9-10 milliliters of blood is drawn from the patient’s vein.
- Centrifugation: The blood is placed in the PRF tube and centrifuged using a specific program. During centrifugation, blood separates into layers, with PRF forming a fibrin clot rich in platelets and growth factors in the middle layer.
- Layer Separation and Collection: After centrifugation, PRF is carefully extracted from the middle layer of the tube using sterile tools. Typically, PRF resides between the red blood cell layer and the serum layer. Further processing may be required to remove residual red blood cells and serum to purify the collected PRF.
- Application: The extracted PRF is directly applied to the treatment site or prepared into various forms, such as membranes, to meet specific medical needs.
Advantages of PRF tube
- Autologous Source: PRF is derived from the patient’s blood, reducing the risk of immune reactions or rejection.
- Simplicity in Operation: The PRF preparation process is relatively straightforward and does not require added anticoagulants or other exogenous substances.
- Rich in Growth Factors: PRF contains a high concentration of growth factors and cytokines, promoting tissue regeneration and wound healing.
- High-Quality Biological Material: The PRF extraction process retains essential components like platelets and white blood cells, ensuring the provision of high-quality biological material for clinical treatment.
